The
California Association for Asian and Pacific American Education (CAAPAE)
was established in 1994 to promote the needs of Asian and Pacific American
(APA) students in K-16 programs, teachers, and teacher educators.
Its
principal objectives are to:

Increase
public awareness of Asian and Pacific American educational concerns
and needs.

Advocate educational programs and policies that meet the needs of
Asian and Pacific American students, teachers, and teacher educators.

Promote
the inclusion of Asian and Pacific American history and culture
in the school curriculum.

Maintain
a network of educators and community people for the sharing of information
and resources, as well as professional development.

Encourage
and support research of Asian and Pacific American educational issues.

Promote
the participation of educators familiar with Asian and Pacific American
concerns in diverse educational roles.

Enhance
the leadership skills of Asian and Pacific American educators.
