The California Association for Asian and Pacific American Education (CAAPAE) was established in 1994 to promote the needs of Asian and Pacific American (APA) students in K-16 programs, teachers, and teacher educators.

Its principal objectives are to:

  • Increase public awareness of Asian and Pacific American educational concerns and needs.

  • Advocate educational programs and policies that meet the needs of Asian and Pacific American students, teachers, and teacher educators.

  • Promote the inclusion of Asian and Pacific American history and culture in the school curriculum.

  • Maintain a network of educators and community people for the sharing of information and resources, as well as professional development.

  • Encourage and support research of Asian and Pacific American educational issues.

  • Promote the participation of educators familiar with Asian and Pacific American concerns in diverse educational roles.

  • Enhance the leadership skills of Asian and Pacific American educators.
